Instead, this book is a scholarly look at the effectiveness of researchers and the effects of research on shaping policy in Great Britain. From this perspective, this is an excellent study. But it must be approached from this understanding to appreciate the book.The book is somewhat of a meta-analysis of research. It examines whether or not research on statebuilding helps state-builders at all, and if so -then how. From this frame of reference, the book does a pretty good job. It is well researched, is succinct and has limited flowery language. Although the book gets wrapped up in details immediately and does not present conclusions up front, the flow of thought is logical and is not wasted space. You have to read for a while for the authors to tell you what their point is, rather than having the conclusion up front and being given the option of delving into the supporting information.Overall, the book achieves its intended purpose of identifying the influence research has on policy in the area of statebuilding and is worth the read if you are interested in this niche topic.See all 1 customer reviews...
