I typically like to see these men with more of a softer side outside of the bedroom but that doesn't come for Jaxson until his life is turned upside down toward the end of the story. Even his nightmares for being a Navy Seal don't compare to how he feels about possibly losing Julia, the love of his life. But he spends much of his young life pushing Julia away, swearing that he isn't good enough for her but never giving her up completely either. Another thing I could do without is a story about a virgin who hangs in there for her man, thinking he really does love her he'll come around, being his friend confidant for years, barely touching another man as she pines for her true love...while her "true love" is screwing every girl in the phone book! And then Jaxson becomes incredibly jealous at the thought of another man touching Julia - really I guess that is the pleasure the pain that comes along with loving this kind of bossy man, and the payoff is between the sheets because his dirty mouth is fantastic! There is a man in town who longs to be with Julia sees his chance when Jaxson is out of the country. No one warned Julia how unstable Wyatt is once Jaxson comes back to town claiming Julia for real this time, Wyatt is none too happy. Julia was a little irritating at times, I would have certainly put my foot down many times with Jax but for some reason she enjoyed it when he got all possessive over her. This is one of those books that introduces a few side characters for the subsequent books - and I end up liking the other characters even more! Sawyer Cade are Jaxson's buddies lifelong friends after their stint as Seals, and Julia has a quiet reserved friend named Grace who has some haunting secrets to her past. Sawyer is even a bigger player than Jaxson was so Grace should stay clear. But then again, Grace has never had an orgasm I am first in line rooting for Sawyer to pin her down give it to her! The story is told in duel POV. The secondary characters are nice and Sawyer and Cade will be the characters in the spin off books of this series.Julia is 16 when she meets 18 year old Jaxson. She is living with her grandmother after her mother dies and he is the hot guy on a motorcycle with a drunk for a dad. He rescues her from two guys and they become best friends. He doesn't feel he will ever be good enough for her even though she is in love with him. When he is 20 he enlists in the Navy, she visits him on his graduation from SEAL training 6 months later and she asks him to be her first. After that night she doesn't see him again for 5 years. They talk but he doesn't seek her out but secretively sees her at her graduation. She hears he has been injured and taken to a hospital in Germany however when she arrives he will not see her, she says if he sends her away they are no longer friends.A year later after he has been through rehabilitation and gets out of the Navy he goes back home to see her. She wants nothing to do with him however he being the overbearing guy he is continues to pursue her. He can come off as a big a$$hole and it does get on your nerves at times during the book. She had been dating Wyatt who is a jerk and they come to blows. He tries to keep things platonic to make it all up to her but that soon changes as he can't keep his hands off her after he moves in with her to protect her. She ends up pregnant and Jaxson doesn't feel he could be a good father due to his upbringing and is upset. There is some back story to what all he went through as a Seal and being captured also. Wyatt kidnaps her, he is insane and she ends up in the hospital. When they get home from the hospital Jaxson proposes and they marry a month later. It covered a lot but it still felt like a short book. Jaxson is an over bearing and very protective Navy Seal. Julia is a woman who won't take his attitude. While I loved the characters, Jaxson started to get on my nerves by the end of the story. He got angry with a doctor trying to give Julia treatment. I can understand why he would feel that way but it just became a little too much by the end of the story. Julia stayed strong through everything and just tried to keep Jaxson in check. I enjoyed getting to see Jaxson and Julia from the very beginning. I enjoyed the plot of this story, along with all the twists and turns.See all 546 customer reviews...
