I have been following the work of the authors who are both well recognized in pediatric nutrition field and could not wait for the book to appear on bookshelves. And I definitely was not disappointed! It is so helpful to see all the recent research I have been relying in my work in one place. The book is so well researched and practical that I am sure it will become a go-to-resource for many families. I especially like the comprehensive approach the authors use when talking about kids nutrition. I found from my own experience that the information on What to feed our kids is often easier to find both on the internet and in books. But what is often missing from many resources are the "why' and "how" aspects of feeding. In other words, parents are aware of nutritional guidelines but need help with evidence based guidelines on how to get their kids to eat nutritious food based on understanding why they behave in certain ways around the table. I keep recommending it to my colleagues, interns and all parents I know. Another thing I love about this book is how practical it is, with numerous case studies, Fearless Tips and super easy basic recipes helping parents put all the recommendations to practice immediately.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.must-have resource for all parentsBy mom2girlsThis book is my new go-to baby present. It is a must-have for any parent, regardless of age of their child, whether they have a picky eater or not, or whether they think they know about nutrition and feeding or not. It's got a ridiculous amount of incredible, easy-to-digest, research-backed guidance on making meals positive, healthy. fun family experiences while ensuring kids of all ages get the nutrition they need to grow and thrive. I've followed co-author Maryann Jacobson's feeding advice (and blog) since my first child was born several years ago, and I credit her guidance to the fact that I never worry whether my kids are eating enough, getting a wide enough nutritional variety, or developing an unhealthy relationship with food. This book is gold, because it takes the best of the blog plus adds a ton of new content, easy-to-use reference charts and guides. I will keep it handy and reference it regularly until my children are out of the house.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.InformativeBy CathyRDI learned a lot about how my own feeding style was lacking towards my own kids, and also learned a lot in order to help my clients. However, the part that said "myth: vegetarian kids are healthier - busted," I didn't agree with. Yes, vegetarians can be unhealthy, that's true, but studies have shown that a "well planned vegetarian diet" can be very healthful for all ages, and can even treat, reverse some disease states. So I wouldn't be so quick to say that vegetarian diets for children are not healthier. More studies are needed, but it's very likely that a well planned veg diet for kids may actually be superior to non-veg ones.See all 49 customer reviews...
